Every now and then, I can't help myself and I have to rant a little. In this episode, I offer caution to readers of so called financial experts online. The website I referenced this week is Betterment.com. The site is filled with efficient and common sense accumulation advice; however, when it comes to income planning, they surprised me by delivering some of the lamest advice I have heard in a while.
I also share my strong feelings about a couple of recent conversations with clients who were taking financial advice from the wrong people. My favorite was the advice received from the CPA who got his opinion from investment advisors. You would never take tax advice from a plumber, ask a doctor for legal advice, or call an attorney for electrical problems. But it makes sense to some people to get financial advice from a lawyer who got their advice from someone else. UHG.
